Precautions for the use of the elastic sleeve
A method for preventing and treating scar hyperplasia by continuously compressing the scar portion of the elastic fabric is called pressure therapy. Early use of pressure therapy can reduce the formation of scars and promote the maturation of scars. Pressure therapy is safe, simple, inexpensive, and effective. It is suitable for patients with uncomfortable surgery. It is currently listed as one of the most common and effective methods for preventing and treating hypertrophic scars. Commonly used pressure therapy includes elastic bandage pressurization method, self-adhesive bandage pressurization method, sponge pressure fixing pad, elastic clothing (set) compression, and silicone film application pressure.
The medical elastic sleeve must be measured by a professional, and tailored after pressure measurement. The elastic sleeve needs to be as tight as possible if the patient can tolerate and does not affect the blood circulation at the distal end of the limb. The general pressure is 20-40 mmHg. Different elastic materials have different flexibility, so they must be rigorously measured and used with different scaling ratios. Pay attention to the following points when using:
1. In principle, continuous pressurization is carried out 24 hours a day, and pressure is also required during sleep, otherwise the effect of daytime compression therapy will be offset. Children are in the growth stage, and the pressurization time varies from person to person, usually 16-18 hours, depending on the doctor's advice.
2, the time of stress treatment should not be less than 3 months, try to reach more than 8 months, or even longer.
3, the wound is not healed, the skin is damaged, there is exudation, before wearing the elastic sleeve, apply the dressing to cover, to avoid soiling the elastic sleeve.
4, in order to avoid the problem of scars and itching caused by scars and scratches, before using the elastic sleeve, you can use ointment or anti-itch cream, wash and scrub. For most people, proper pressure can reduce itching at the scar.
5. A small number of patients have blisters during the wearing of the elastic sleeve, especially the newly healed wound or cross-joint area, which can be relieved by placing a pad. If blisters occur, keep them clean and cover with a non-adhesive sterile pad. The elastic sleeve should be worn continuously and should be discontinued when a wound infection occurs.
6. When bathing and applying emollient oil, the elastic sleeve can be removed, but it should be worn within half an hour.
7. Avoid excessive pulling of the elastic sleeve when putting on and off, otherwise the elastic sleeve will easily become loose.
8. It is recommended that each patient be equipped with at least 2 elastic sets of wheels for daily replacement and cleaning. Do not machine wash, do not expose to the sun. Wash with a neutral detergent and air dry. Two-piece rotations will generally change the pressure for 3 months and should be re-evaluated or re-customized.
