Patients with lymphedema need to know when wearing a beauty elastic sleeve
After reducing swelling in the limbs of patients with lymphedema, they can no longer use elastic bandages, but instead use elastic sleeves, also known as pressure gowns. The types of elastic sleeves include elastic gloves, elastic sleeves, elastic socks, etc. So how to use elastic sleeves correctly?
1、 What kind of patients cannot wear elastic sleeves?
① Cardiogenic edema;
② Peripheral arterial disease: patients with ankle brachial index less than 0.8;
③ Acute infection period, such as cellulitis and erysipelas;
2、 What kind of patients need to be considered?
Hypertension, arrhythmia, decreased sensitivity or loss of sensation of limbs, partial or complete paralysis of the body, limb weakness, age, congestive heart failure, mild to moderate arterial occlusive disease, diabetes, malignant lymphedema (it is necessary to work closely with the doctor to determine which level of pressure is applicable)
3、 Precautions for wearing elastic sleeves
Trim the nails on your hands, remove rings and other accessories to avoid damaging the elastic sleeve;
4、 Precautions for cleaning the elastic sleeve
① When lotion or cream is used, the elastic sleeve should be cleaned on the same day. You can put the elastic sleeve into a mesh laundry bag to protect clothes. The water temperature should be controlled at 30 ℃ -40 ℃. Dark elastic socks should be cleaned with cold water;
② Use mild soap or detergent, and wash with neutral shower gel. Avoid using chloride bleach or other clothing additives;
③ Elastic clothing should not be exposed to direct sunlight and should be naturally air dried;
5、 Time for replacing the elastic sleeve
The elastic fibers of the elastic sleeve will disappear with the wear of the clothing, so the elastic sleeve needs to be replaced every six months.
Generally, we need to configure two sets. If after washing, the clothes cannot be restored to their original shape, there are holes in the threads, and there is no pressure to put on or the clothes become easier to put on and take off, then it may be necessary to replace them with new elastic sleeves.
